Dogs don’t cope well with all the chemicals that can be found in store-bought products. The cleaner the product is the better for our pups. They can develop itches and skin rashes from the harsh chemicals and sometimes the smell of the products can be too much for their sensitive noses.
I have always been a fan of making Yuna’s products at home, whenever possible. There are some shampoos that I swear by. One of those shampoos is Buddy Wash, by Cloud Star. But for the most, I make her own shampoo.
I’m going to share a few great recipes and hopefully, you will love and leave some comments about it.
20 ounces of water
2 tbsp Castile soap
4 drops of Lavender essential oil
2 drops of rosemary essential oil
Add the ingredients in an empty and clean bottle, mix it well and you are ready to spoil your puppy with a chemical free and deliciously smelling product.
There are other essential oils you can use. I choose Lavender because it’s safe and gentle, it’s a natural insect repellent (repel fleas, ticks, and other insects but will not kill them) antibacterial, anti-itch, nerve-calming and skin irritations. This oil is my favorite! And Rosemary is added for being antimicrobial, antioxidant, bug repellant, flea repellent and keeps their coat super shiny.
Here is some other favorite of mine and their benefits:
Cedarwood: Antiseptic, tonifying, circulation-stimulating. Good for skin and coat conditioning and dermatitis of all types.
Geranium: Gentle and safe, antifungal and great for skin irritations, fungal ear infections.
It is also an effective tick repellent.
Thyme: Pain relief, good for arthritis and rheumatism. It’s also antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral, great to treat infections and skin issues.
Essential oils can be harmful to pets so they must be diluted, but they are a great asset to have at home. On another post, I will share with you other recipes involving essential oils but for now, go ahead and try this fantastic dog shampoo. Your furry kid will love it, I promise!
